Most small-business numbers get worked out once, in a spreadsheet, and then never checked again. Costs drift, a supplier raises prices, wages go up, and the pricing built on last year's figures quietly stops covering them. These calculators exist to make that check take thirty seconds instead of an afternoon.
They cover the four questions that decide whether a business is profitable rather than merely busy: what to charge, what a job actually earns you, how much you need to sell before you are making money, and what an hour of someone's time really costs. Each one shows its working, so you can see which input is moving the answer.
Several tools also have versions written for a specific line of work — restaurant food costing, construction overhead recovery, auto repair parts matrices, contractor rate setting. Those pages carry the benchmarks and conventions of the trade alongside the same calculator, because a 30% margin means something very different in grocery than it does in consulting.
Frequently asked questions
- Are these business calculators free?
- Yes, all of them, with no sign-up and no usage limits. The site is funded by advertising rather than subscriptions.
- Do my figures get sent anywhere?
- No. Every calculation runs in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type — costs, prices, salaries, invoice amounts — is transmitted to a server or stored anywhere.
- Can I use these for a different currency?
- Yes. Each calculator has a currency selector covering USD, EUR, GBP, CAD and AUD. The arithmetic is identical; only the formatting changes.
- Is this financial or tax advice?
- No. These tools produce estimates for general information. Tax rates, employment rules and interest caps vary by jurisdiction and change over time, so verify anything consequential with a qualified accountant or lawyer.
